Half Way Ranger Station –

Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps has been working with the Northern Research Station and the State Historic Preservation Office to rehabilitate the Halfway Ranger Station (HRS), formerly the Kawishiwi Field Laboratory, site for many years. The proposal and feasibility study by Northern Bedrock, for the adaptive reuse of HRS were accepted in May 2013. The next step in the process will take place on May 12. Two open house events are scheduled to give citizens an opportunity to discuss the Environmental Assessment (EA) with Forest Service planning staff and Northern Research Station staff. The first meeting is scheduled from 2-4 p.m., a second meeting is planned for 6-8 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Grand Ely Lodge, located at 400 N Pioneer Road Ely.

Northern Bedrock staff will be attending the meetings. Please join us and be a part of preserving a great piece of history.
